I’m interested in how our bodies are shaped by the stories they hold, not as fixed truths, but as evolving narratives. Self-perception is deeply complex, influenced by lived experience, emotional and physical biases, violations, and societal regulation. The complexity of our experiences is often not accessible through written language and need to be given as visual testimony. The body becomes both a truth-teller and a site of confrontation, revealing the self in its layered, sometimes fragmented form. It also becomes a space of resistance, especially in the context of gendered subordination. I use figures and animal forms to tell stories of pain and healing, exploring how our sense of self transforms or is left behind as we gain the knowledge and strength to become who we truly are.
